UPMC Institute for Health Chianciano Terme is an advanced and integrated center for preventive medicine, with a special focus on metabolic syndrome, liver chronic diseases, and cardiovascular diseases. The Center offers innovative and customized screening programs based on risk factors such as family history, hypertension, alcohol, smoking, hypercholesterolemia, obesity, and diabetes. Digestive endoscopy (gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and video capsule colonoscopy), laboratory and imaging tests (EKG, elastography, ultrasound), specialty consults (hepatology, cardiology, diabetology), and innovative procedures (Endobarrier®, a new treatment for type 2 diabetes and obesity) are also available. In collaboration with Technogym®, a leading fitness and wellness company based in Italy, UPMC Institute for Health has established a highly specialized and innovative medical gym. This new facility seeks to promote and support physical activity as part of exercise counseling, helping to provide a more comprehensive preventive care plan for patients. The medical gym is equipped with dedicated equipment and solutions for rehabilitation and for the prevention of cardiac and metabolic disorders.

UPMC Institute for Health Chianciano Terme is owned and managed by UPMC Italy, Italian branch of UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center). UPMC Italy operates in the field of patient care, biomedical research, and telemedicine, develops new technology solutions, and provides support to areas directly and indirectly related to medical and research institutions. For 20 years, UPMC Italy has been managing ISMETT IRCCS a government-approved research hospital in Palermo and a center for organ transplants and highly specialized therapies. In partnership with the Italian government, the Sicilian regional government, the Italian National Research Council (CNR), and the University of Pittsburgh, UPMC Italy is a founding member of the Ri.MED Foundation and involved in the realization of the Biomedical Research and Biotechnology Center (BRBC) in Carini, near Palermo. In collaboration with San Pietro Fatebenefratelli Hospital in Rome, in 2013, UPMC Italy created UPMC San Pietro FBF Advanced Radiotherapy Center, a brand new facility that offers innovative radiotherapy treatments and stereotactic radiosurgery with oncology protocols for advanced-level care.
